Beautiful Chaos

Good news! There is only one book left in this series! (Unlike PLL)

So now the main character realizes that she kind of destroyed the world... Everything is coming undone very slowly. There's a prophecy that says someone has to sacrifice themselves for the world to be good again. The evil guy comes and lights the city on fire and kills a bunch of people. The murderous mom comes back and dies.

SOL

My favorite moment in Hawaii was when I broke the Squishie. I poked it with my glove and it started deflating. Everyone started freaking out because the we thought the Squishie ripped. The guy who was leading the reef study came over because we were all screaming at the broken Squishie and he told us that the Squishie wasn't ripped. It was waiting for us to stop poking it. (It is kind of hard to not poke a BIG PINK SQUISHIE THING THAT LOOKS VERY POKEABLE!)

Beautiful Darkness

This book is the sequel to Beautiful Creatures. It is basically continuing the plot of Beautiful Creatures; Lena's mother is hunting her, a "dead" and very evil relative introduces themselves, Lena is turning evil like her mom and wants to kill her boyfriend, and so on. Nothing new. I would still recommend this series to anyone who wants something to read. There are two more books and a spin-off from an evil cousin's perspective.

Beautiful Creatures

Sixteen moons, sixteen years
Sixteen of your deepest fears
Sixteen times you dreamed my tears
Falling, falling, through the years.

Ethan has been having strangely real dreams of a girl he's never seen before. She'll be drowning; he'll wake up soaking wet and smelling like salt. Then a girl, Lena, moves into Gatlin. Ethan's life is turned upside down by shattering windows, freak hurricanes, and a deadly locket. And Sarafine is closing in on Lena, determined to kill her daughter.

Atlantia

Under star-dark seas and skies of gold
Live those Above and those Below
They sing and weep, both high and deep
While over and under the ocean rolls

If I give out any information about this book, it will ruin the whole thing.
There is nothing I can say that won't be a spoiler. Sorry, you'll just have to READ THE BOOK to find out everything!! :)

SOL

I do not want to do another slice. After posting for a month straight, I am so tired of slicing that I do not even want to do this one. I especially don't want to do comments, because after saying "great job" and "nice slice" for 31 days in a row I have run out of things to say. I have also run out of ideas for slices. I had about 31 ideas and I used them up. I'm guessing that next week I'll just be uncurrent because I won't post anything for my SOL. All SOL creativity has been taken away from me. Hmph.

Masterminds

Some people in the town of Serenity are different. 11 kids can never leave the city. And they are all psycho murderers. They just don't know it yet.

This book was great. It's a little below my reading level so it only took about a day to read. It's a new book, and I think there is going to be a sequel because it ends on a cliffhanger with a killer on the loose. (Spoiler, sorry!)

SOL 30th

Wrap your arms three times and bring your legs a little closer together. I try to, but they are held fast about half a foot away from each other. Thea, if you don't bring your legs closer, you will not be able to complete the first turn, I tell myself. So I pull on the silks around my arms to loosen the fabric around my legs. Lean back. You won't fall. You've done this like 50 times before. I lean back. The fabric catches me and flops me around the other way. Put your arms out to catch yourself. I do, and stop mid-turn. The "flip-flop" is done. Good. I am tired.

SOL 28th - my interpretation/additions to Fire Meet Gasoline by Sia

It's dangerous
To fall in love, but I
Wanna burn with you tonight.
So we shall both suffocate and die.

There's two of us.
Which would actually be
'There ARE two of us.'
There is two of us
Is not grammatically correct.
Is it, Kam?

So come on I'll
Take you on, take you on I
Ache for love, ache for us WHY
Don't
Don't you come a little closer.

So come on now
Strike the match strike the match now,
We're a perfect match
Perfect somehow.
We were made for one another,
Come a little closerrrrrrrr....

Fire that came from me,
Fire meet gasoline
Fire meet gasoline
I'm burning alive.
I can barely breath
Since I'm burning alive.
So technically I can't breath
Because I've already suffocated.
Fire meet gasoline
Fire meet gasoline!
I got on a knee
When you came back to me
Because my other leg had been burnt off
Fire meet gasoliiiiiiine!

Burn with MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

MWAHAHAHAHA,
MWAHAHAHAHA
MWAHAHAHA
MWAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!

SOL 27th

The SOL challenge is almost over!!!! Congrats to everyone who posted every day so far! IT SHALL BE WORTH IT! Totoro is happy too! It was hard to think of ideas for posts (it was hard to think of this one) but I did it!... even if some of the posts are boring and random. And some of them are just cute images or gifs that explain everything better than words. For example, the happy clover one on St. Patrick's day and the Pusheen one for two days ago. So, just... YAY!

SOL 26th, THE WORM GAMES (dun dun duuuuuuun)

THE WORM GAMES

25 worms slithered out of the ground last weekend. How many survived? May the odds be ever in their favor...

Speedy the worm got hit by a car.
Squishy the worm didn't get very far.
Pinkie the worm stuck to someone's shoe.
Blobby the worm got turned into goo.
Wormy the worm dried up on cement.
A very bad death, Slimy underwent.
Crunchy the worm got eaten by a dog.
Lunchy the worm couldn't run from a frog.
Munchy the worm got eaten by a bird.
"Yucky worm!" was the last thing Winkie ever heard.
Gooey the worm got speared by a bush.
A little child ground up Shiny's tush.
Tasty the worm got eaten by ants.
Lazy the worm was unable to prance.
Globby the worm got thrown across the yard.
A tire came on Lucky very fast and very hard.
Moody the worm went in the parking lot to play.
Fluffy the worm didn't have time to pray.
Grassy the worm froze under the snow.
Snazzy the worm couldn't tell the shoe "No."
Petey the worm got fed to some larks.
Neaty the worm heard the coyote bark.
A branch fell on unlucky Bernie.
Manny didn't come back from his journey.

AND HAPPY SURVIVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(until Monday)

SOL 24th/book blog

Crushed & Deadly...

Well, just think about my previous book blog, where the main characters get blown up, and consider these titles.

Hint: Someone (almost) gets crushed, and someone dies.

SOL 23rd

9:34 - Thea lays in bed under the blankets.
9:37 - Thea's feet get too hot. She sticks them out of the blankets on the left side.
9:40 - Thea's feet get cold. She pulls them back under the blankets.
9:52 - Thea's feet get hot again. She tries to deal with it.
9:55 - Thea kicks back the blankets and lays on top of them.
10:02 - Thea gets very cold and goes back under the blankets.
10:09 - Thea gets hot again. She devises a brilliant plan.
10:11-10:12 - Thea gets out of bed, walks to the doorway of her room, and turns on the fan.
10:13 - Thea gets back in bed under the blankets and sleeps in the perfect temperature.

SOL 22nd

Here is a GIF to make anyone reading this happy.
And in case you have watched this GIF and are not happy, then leave and go read someone else's blog.

SOL 21st

"Thea, come look at this." My mom is standing across the toy store, looking at something in a little jar. I walk over, looking at all the stuffed animals and jigsaw puzzles on shelves. My younger sister is debating over whether to get her friend a plastic unicorn or a plastic horse for her birthday. That's the reason we are at the store in the first place.
When I get close enough, I see some little plastic dogs on pens.
"So?" I ask. What's so great about these dogs?
My mom squeezes one of the little grey dogs. A tiny pink tongue darts out of its mouth and rests again with just the tip poking out. "Doesn't this remind you of someone?" she asks.
It does. My year-old Cocker puppy, Mickey, likes to leave his tongue a little bit outside of his mouth, too. We usually poke it back in, but it looks funny, and just like this pen.
"I AM getting that," I declare, and choose the pen with the dog that looks most like Mickey.

Don't they look alike??

SOL 20th

About a year ago, my grandpa took me and my sister on a behind-the-scenes tour of the San Francisco Zoo (he has a friend who works there and got us in for free). I, predictably, wanted to go see the lemurs first. I looked into the giant area filled with ring-tailed lemurs. Something didn't seem right. One of the lemurs... was pink! I showed my sister and my grandpa the pink lemur. My grandpa thought we should tell someone who worked at the park about the pink lemur. We asked a worker about it, and she pointed out the pink light above the lemur that was making its fur look pink! I personally would have liked it better if the lemur were really pink.

Let us all have a moment of silence to appreciate Google's dancing clover gif..
And yes this is my entire slice for today but it's worth it for little dancing clovers!!

SOL 18th

My old computer died. First the clock wasn't moving the time forward. It would just reset from whatever time and date I set it on every time I turned on the computer. Then the enter key broke. Then the mouse stopped working. When I plugged in a corded mouse, I realized the keyboard wasn't working either. It was backlit, and the lights under the keys turned off. It was very sad. So I went to Office Depot and bought this computer I am writing on right now with the new little touchscreen stylus.

 RIP old computer.                                                                         NEW COMPUTER!

SOL 13th

I'm ending my poll...
It's a very sad day today...
So sad that I am putting this in a different font...

The poll was "Have you eaten a fish this month?"
The last words of the dying poll say...
2 people voted for "Yes."
6 people voted for "No."
3 people voted for "Only the head."
14 people voted for "I'm a dinosaur."

Quite a lot of people are dinosaurs these days.
I wonder what kind of dinosaur everyone is.
It's funny, because I never see any dinosaurs around Logan.
Only kids.
Maybe they're dinosaurs in disguise.
I don't know.

Rubber cement is fun. You can glop it on and it's all wet and weird. And then when you stick the paper onto whatever it's supposed to be on, the rubber cement dries and gets... well, rubbery. And then when you rub off any excess, it turns into little weird squishy clumps of rubber cement. And then you can squish it and it's fun.

"Wake up! Daisy, Daisy, go wake Thea up! Go jump on her feet! Good girl!" My mom barges into my room and startles me out of a dream. My dogs, Mickey and Daisy, hop up onto my bed and clomp around. I close my eyes again and pretend to sleep.
"Come on, you have to get up. It's 7:40!" "UNNGGGGHHHHH," I say.
My mom gives up and leaves, bringing Daisy with her. As Daisy leaves, Mickey (who has been peeking into the rat cage on my desk) latches onto Daisy's ear and hangs on like a little furry leech. They both run out of the room.
I close my eyes again for a moment, open them, and suddenly it's 7:50 and my mom is already making breakfast. I fall out of bed unwillingly, get dressed, and sit at the table with my hair barely untangled. I am not hungry right now, just tired. Bleh. Daylight Savings sucks.

SOL 8th

My puppy found a carrot. He put his front paws up on the counter in my kitchen. There was a bag of carrots which he grabbed while he jumped down. I yelled at him to come back and drop the carrots, but he took off downstairs. His little puppy nails skittered across the wood floor and then the sound disappeared when he made it to the carpet. Down the stairs he galumphed. He stopped in the library-ish room at the foot of the stairs, plopped down, and ripped open the bag with his teeth. A carrot tumbled out. My puppy then proceeded to gnaw on the orange part. He got a chunk in his mouth and started chomping away while holding the plastic bag in between his front paws. Dogs are messy eaters. He spewed little orange bits everywhere while I watched. I let him eat the carrot because carrots are good for dogs.

I found a rubber band. It is from a Rainbow Loom or Crazy Loom or whatever those rubber-band-bracelet-kit-things are. This is a very fun rubber band. It is pink and has little lines on it whenever I tilt it into the light. It can stretch about four inches. You can tell I'm bored right now because I'm writing about stretching a rubber band.

SOL 6th

Welcome to my blog. Here is (Will) SOL(ace) #6. Anyone who reads the correct book will get that reference.^

"Last one. Whoever guesses the date and month of my birthday added up will win the mysterious card," says the announcer. I raise my hand. "18," I guess. "Correct! January 17th!" says the announcer. He sticks a card under my seat...

I have been waiting here for 5 hours. People are slowly filling in the empty seats at the far back of the book store. Finally, Veronica Roth and Margaret Stohl enter! Veronica Roth wrote the Divergent series, and Margaret Stohl wrote the Icons series and cowrote Beautiful Creatures. They give their little talks about their books, answering questions and taking selfies with random people from the audience. Anyone who bought a waver (I did) goes up to the front and gets a signed book.

The talk is finally over. The announcer tells everyone to look under their seats (besides the people who won them in the contests at the beginning, 10 were hidden under random seats). The people with cards un-tape them, and we go into a separate room at the back. Veronica Roth and Margaret Stohl are waiting back there! We get to take selfies with them and they personally sign our books. Veronica Roth signed mine "Thea- be brave" and Margaret Stohl signed mine "Happy first book party, Thea!"

My friend (who moved to L.A.) was texting me during this, so I bought another book and had Veronica Roth sign it for her. I mailed the book and it was my friend's early birthday present. Now we can brag to people happily ever after.

SOL 5th

I bring the silks on the right side of my body and hold on tightly. I push off with my legs and am now hanging upside-down. I let go of the silk with one hand and hook my right leg over, then let go with the other hand. My leg is the only thing keeping me from falling ten feet. I reach around to get the tails of the silk. I bring them up and around the leg that is not hooked on the poles. Now as long as I don't let go of the tails in my hand, I am safe to unhook my leg. I bring the silk around my back and wrap it once around my stomach. Hooking the arch of my foot on the poles, I get a good grip on the silk in my hand. I unhook my foot and I spiral down, stopping suddenly when the silk catches around my leg. I bend my back out and point my toes. This is part one. I sit up, get the tails in my hands (I cannot let go of them or I will fall), and wrap the fabric around my left leg four times. I can do four cartwheels. I switch the tails to my left hand, grab the poles with my right, and lean out into a starfish-ish shape. I let go with my right hand, lean left, and am sent spiraling around 360 degrees, catching myself by grabbing the poles again. I am still ten feet above the floor, holding the silks keeping me up with one hand. I have been doing this for three years, but it's still terrifying sometimes. This is aerial.

This is me not doing the move I wrote about

SOL 4th

They sit on my shoulders. They can barely stay on from all the fat jiggling around on their backs. It's funny, too, how fat they are, since they go on their wheel all night. Websites say that Rosco and Timmy are supposed to have great balance. They used to when they weren't fat. If I stuck my arm in the cage, they would scramble up onto my shoulder and make their little happy noises. Rosco tried to come up my arm and fell off (I caught him in my skirt). They still make their little cooing noises when I pick them up. I'm their favorite human.
Now they are off my shoulders, and they sit in their cage next to my desk giving themselves baths. They are as clean as cats. I am poking my finger in between the bars. They see it, climb through the bedding in the cage to the wall, and lick my finger. They never, ever bite. They don't even chew clothing, and very rarely dangly earrings. I have trained them not to, but sometimes they can't resist. Their little tongues go across my finger. It's so cute. I don't know any other rats who lick.

I think I have the logo thing figured out now. Anyway, this SOL will be called...

Music I am Listening to While Writing This

"Secret" is a kind of creepy song. I heard it at my aerial show when someone did a performance to it, and then I recognized it from the Pretty Little Liars TV show theme song. I'm listening to it right now. Even though it's creepy, I downloaded it on iTunes because it sounds cool.

Oh no, next on my playlist is "A Thousand Years" by Christina Perri. This is a boring song. I shall skip it for now.

Now it's "Summertime Sadness." Why are all these boring songs coming up?? Oh yeah, because this is the playlist I literally titled "Boring songs." That explains everything. I shall change it to a new playlist.

I changed the playlist to "Good songs" so I am listening to "Dressed in Black" by Sia. This is good. I like it. I found this song by going on Sia Radio on the Pandora app and this song came up first. I liked it, so I downloaded it.

     Goodbye, this is the end.

SOL 1st

Yay!! It's working! The logo was being stupid and didn't let me type anything and underlined everything and then deleted everything so I had to start over. This is probably my fourth try to write SOL #1 because of the STUPID LOGO. *nudge nudge logo it's your fault* Oh my, that's weird... It now is typing in white for some reason.. I'm going to switch it back to black hold on because I can't see anything that I'm typing.Good it's back to typing in black. I hope it shows up on my blog when I publish this because I can only read the part in white when I highlight it. I could just switch it to black, but I want to see how it looks. From the "compose" screen, I can't see anything because it's on a white background. I think this will be my Slice now because I have a lot written now.

Book blog Feb 23

I choose books by reading the back or the inside cover. I like mysteries, especially murder mysteries; hence why I read the entire Pretty Little Liars series (and am still reading it). This hasn't changed much over the school year. I like more dramatic books. If the description of the book has a cliffhanger mystery thing in it, I will probably read it.

My favorite book is one that I read last year, but I will recommend it anyway. My favorite book is The Roar, and I'm not sure who it's by. It is not really a mystery. It takes place in the future, where all wildlife has been wiped out and metal animals are the only living thing besides humans. It's kind of related to a book that someone blogged on last week I think. There's a video game tournament, if you lose you die, and the winner basically rules the world.

I read five books over break, so I guess just go to the home page of my blog and scroll down to find it because it's really long. Or I might put the link in the comments also, in case.

I'm going to read the next books in the Pretty Little Liars series. There are like 10 more of them: Twisted, Ruthless, Stunning, Burned, Crushed, Deadly, Toxic, Vicious, Pretty Little Secrets, and Ali's Pretty Little Lies.

Unbelievable, Wicked, Wanted, Killer,and Heartless

Once upon a time, there were two beautiful girls names Ali and Courtney -but one of them was crazy. And as you know, with a few magical twists of fate, Ali became Courtney for a while. But what you don't know is that Courtney became Ali, too.
You heard me right, Pretty Little Losers... and it's all because of you. Remember when you stalked me in my yard for the time capsule flag? And remember that girl who trotted out to the lawn and talked to you? That wasn't me. As you so astutely figured out Courtney was home switching from the Radley to the Preserve that weekend. And oh, how poor widdle Courtney didn't want to go. She had her neat, crazy little life at the Radley... and she didn't want to start over in a new hospital.
If she had to start over somewhere, it was going to be in Rosewood. And start over she did. She was supposed to go to the Preserve the very morning she saw you skulking around my yard -and man, did she jump on the chance fast. One minute, she and I were arguing -I was so happy she was on her way out- and the next she was in the yard, pretending to be me, talking to you guys like you were BFFs. Talking about my flag as if she hadn't been the one who'd stolen it first and ruined my masterpiece with that stupid wishing well. How was I supposed to know  that everyone -my mom, my dad, even my brother- would think it was me out there and Courtney inside? How was I supposed to know my mom would grab me in the hall and say it's time to go, Courtney? I pleaded with her that I was Ali, but my mom didn't believe me, all because Courtney took my A-is-for-Ali ring when I wasn't looking. My mom yelled outside to the girl who wasn't Ali that we were leaving, and the girl who wasn't Ali turned, smiled, and said, Bye!
Off we went. Courtney got my perfect life, and I got her wrecked one. Just like that.
She ruined everything. She put her lips all over Ian Thomas. She nearly got arrested for blinding prissy Jenna Cavanaugh. She ditched Naomi and Riley, the coolest girls at school. But the very worst thing she did in my name was choose four new best friends in their place. Girls she knew I wouldn't look twice at, girls who weren't special in any way. Girls who she knew would fall all over her, desperate for the opportunity to be in her exclusive club. The girls who'd help her get everything she wanted.
Any of this sound familiar, ladies?
But don't worry. This little fairy tale can still have a happy ending for me. I saw to it that my sister paid for what she did, And now, so will you.
I tried to burn you. I tried to make you crazy. I tried to have you arrested. I've even messed with you this week -surprise! I flung myself at Aria's boyfriend. I sent poor Hanna fake tickets to a certain fashion show. I let Em believe there was a happily-ever-after for us after all. Smooch! And Spencer... I have a surprise for you. Look closely! It's right under your nose.
I suppose I should thank Courtney for her meticulous diary keeping. It helped me -and Mona- so much. It's all led up to this big moment. The curtain's about to go up... and the show is about to begin. Get ready to meet your maker. It won't be long now.

Perfect!

The night that Ali died, she was hypnotizing Emily, Spencer, Hanna, and Aria. Ali and Spencer got into a fight and ran out of the barn. Spencer came back alone and worried, and Ali was gone.

But what else happened that night? There is a blacked-out spot in Spencer's mind. She keeps getting weird flashbacks to a forgotten fight with Ali. Spencer's therapist says that Spencer blacked the time out on purpose, but there is a way to remember it.

All four girls figure out who the murderer is at the same time.

Happy SOL :)

It is a little mouse thing in the corner.
It is clapping its paws.
It has big ears.
It has a tan tail and nose.
It is happy. :)
I like it.

It is a carrot on the board.
It was drawn by me.
It has a mustache for leaves.
It is orange.
It is happy. :)
I like it.

I do. in fact, hate the song "Happy."

Pretty Little Liars pt 2 and Flawless

For this book blog, I am going to give a couple sentences from the book  that basically describe the whole book.

Pretty Little Liars: pt. 2

"Your friend Alison," she whispered. "They just found her body."

Flawless

Toby will never smell microwave popcorn again. Neither would Ali.
...
"And I can't believe I went to Foxy with Ali's... killer."
...
"There's another body," a crackling voice answered. "And it's.." The transmission turned to static.
...
It's not over until I say it is. -A
...
Spencer didn't answer. The line was dead.

SOL

I have no ideas for my Slice of Life. I am typing on my blog. I glance down at the keys, and tap my fingers lightly over the tops of them. I write this sentence. There is a weird picture of an alien on the window in front of the computer. I write about it, glancing up at it. My fingers are fire on the keys when I have something to write. There are large gaps between these sentences where I am staring up at the ceiling or at the rough wall. I write more. This is happening right now. I glance up at a nail on the wall. I write about it. There is another nail. I just wrote about that one, too. I bite the inside of my cheek, shift my legs around in the chair, and type this sentence. This is happening at 1:53 in the afternoon. Now it is 1:54. I still have nothing to write about, but there is now a large-ish paragraph on the page. I scratch my cheek. I rub at my eye. I write about it. There is an orange button that says "Publish." Should I click it? I click it.

Pretty Little Liars (pt. 1)

Emily, Spencer, Hanna, Aria, and Alison had been best friends for years. Then Alison went missing.
Ali knew all of their secrets. She had more than enough dirt on the four others. With her gone, their secrets were safe. For three years, anyway.
In their junior year of high school, the four remaining friends have drifted apart. Ali still hasn't been found. Ali's family moved out of their house. Emily, Spencer, Hanna, and Aria develop more secrets.

There is a new girl in Alison's old house. She is African-American and her name is Maya. Her bedroom window faces Spencer's. But then what was that swish of blond that Spencer saw in Alison's old bedroom if Maya has black hair?

Emily likes Maya. Like, really likes her. No one knows about it. But then Emily gets a note from "A." Someone knows. Someone has been watching.

Hanna used to be chubby. She suddenly got skinny very quickly. How did she do it? "A" knows.

Aria met her English teacher in a bar. They... did some stuff. No one knows about their secret relationship. They covered it up very well. At least, no one knows but "A."

Who is "A?" What could it stand for? But Alison has been dead the whole time.... hasn't she?

This book begins with the Benjamin Franklin quote:
"Three may keep a secret, if two of them are dead."

I would totally recommend this book. It has some mature topics, if you didn't get that from some of the description. This book is very suspenseful and mysterious and AWESOME.

The most boring SOL you'll ever read...

I sit in a chair waiting for dinner. The cat is meowing on the mantle. The puppy walks around in the kitchen, little nails skittering on the wood floor. I can hear my rats on their exercise wheel in my bedroom.
I lick my lips. Puppy and my other dog, Daisy, have followed my mom downstairs. The cat is still meowing above the fireplace. It is quiet except for the meows. Eventually, she stops.
I know I could be doing stuff right now, like posting my book blog. I could be playing the piano. I could be checking my email. But I'm not. My legs have gotten comfy and refuse to move. I sit in the chair.
Suddenly, I realize that if I keep sitting here, my leg will fall asleep. I don't get up. Instead, I straiten the leg to let blood flow.
My younger sister is reading in my parents' bedroom. I can hear the pages of her book turn.
I could read. I just am too lazy to get up off of this chair. I fiddle with my braided hair, twisting the end around my finger. It is soft since I accidentally used too much conditioner this morning. I like the feel of it. Maybe I should use a giant glop of hair conditioner more often. It makes my hair smell good anyway.
I am hungry. I am still waiting for dinner. Lasagna smells waft from the kitchen. My leg has woken back up, so I let it drop again. There is a noodle on the counter. I want to eat it, but I don't want to get up.
I end up getting up. I eat the noodle. I sit back down.

Fire is catching, and if we burn, you burn with us

I read Mockingjay, in The Hunger Games series, a couple years ago. I didn't finish it since I stopped when Prim died. Unfortunately, that was a hundred pages or so until the end of the book. This time, I meant to start where I stopped and finish the book, but I couldn't find it. I ended up rereading the entire book.

Mockingjay starts in District 13. Katniss has just been pulled from the area she blew up. She is very worried about Peeta, whom she assumes is dead until she sees him in the Capitol on TV. His memories have been played with so that now he goes crazy whenever he sees Katniss. He tries to choke her. Katniss gets so mad and sad that she volunteers to be the Mockingjay, the symbol of rebellion against the capitol. The book is about her battles against President Snow as she goes on a personal mission, on Peeta's behalf, to kill Snow.

I would definitely recommend this book to people who have read the first two, The Hunger Games and Catching Fire.

SOL- snowshoeing

I sit in the snow with my clunky snowshoes off and laying next to me. I am eating a giant chicken leg, because that's what my mom packed. Unfortunately, I did not get up early enough to make my own lunch for the trip.
Everyone not eating is chatting with each other. Someone says, "Look! It's a small furry mammal!" I turn my head to look. A small brown mouse is climbing over the snow a couple yards away. It is coming toward us. Everyone quiets. The mouse has a shorter tail than the ones I see at Petsmart, but it is fatter. It makes its way over Sophie's backpack, about a foot away from where I am sitting. The mouse passes the backpack and rests in the dip of snow under a little pine tree. We can't see it anymore.
"Look, it's another furry mammal!" "I think it's an ermine." "Ooh!" We whisper as another little fuzzy thing jumps around the snow. It is a white ermine, a little less than half a foot tall. It boings around, following the mouse's trail. We are too loud, and it circles around us, not as direct as the mouse. It also goes to the tree and disappears where we can't see it. As far as I know, the mouse is still there, too. Everything is quiet. Then the ermine reappears above the snow with the dead mouse in its mouth. Some people cheer too loudly and the ermine drops the mouse and runs away. We are silent again. The ermine comes back, picks up the mouse, and runs away.

The snowshoeing trip was fun. I got really tired on the way up because I have not hiked for months while waiting for my knee to heal. I had the option of staying in someone else's classroom for the day, but I didn't want to. I have only gone snowshoeing once before, last year. It was colder then with more snow. I still like snowshoeing.

SOL

I kind of have no new news because I was sick. The most interesting thing I can come up with is this...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I lay in my bed under the blankets. It felt very cozy and warm. My cat, whose real name is Cheerio but who my family just calls "Kitty," padded over and started meowing in my face. She has a very high-pitched meow, so after maybe thirty seconds I coughed in her face to shut her up. I immediately felt sorry and started petting her. Her warm fur was soft like always, and patchwork spotted brown, black, and white.
My mom came in with a Camelbak water bottle filled with tea. I took it, and I set it on my desk next to my bed.

SUDDENLY, the water bottle exploded! All of the tea blew out the top. It spilled hot tea all over my hand. I tried to put it out by putting my hand over the exploding top, but that made it worse! I started screaming and threw the bottle on the floor. It didn't stop and sprayed tea on my Ugg boots. Now they have little designs on them from the honey that was in the tea. The water bottle stopped spewing so I examined my hand. It was burned, but not badly. I got up and put it under cold water.

I hate Camelbak. They don't make safe products for children. :(

SOL: DW

(Sorry for posting a little late; I have the flu and was laying in bed sleeping all day.)

Last night, I watched an old episode of Doctor Who. It was from Season 4, with the Doctor who wears a striped scarf and likes jelly beans (I can't remember the actor's name). The episode I watched was called The Horror of Fang Rock. It is about a big green alien who kills people on a lighthouse. My mom made fun of the bad special effects by pointing out that the alien looks like a big squishy cabbage.
The Doctor and his companion, Leela, find themselves on the lighthouse. They are forced to run as the big squishy jellyfish/cabbage goes very slowly up the stairs and kills the stupid people who just stand there screaming and don't run or do anything.
It made me realize how much bigger the budget of the new seasons is.

The List

I started and finished The List, by Siobhan Vivian in about three days. It's a really good book.

Every year, the Monday before the homecoming dance at Mount Washington High, a list appears. The list is all over the building. It tells who the prettiest and ugliest girls are in each class. The prettiest girls always get swooned over, and the ugly ones are made fun of. No one knows who started the tradition, and who the duty of writing the list gets passed on to every year. The prettiest girls this year are Abby, Lauren, Bridget, and Margo. The ugliest are Danielle (as the list states: "also known as Dan the Man"), Candace, Sarah, and Jennifer.
They all react differently to the list. Sarah threatens to ruin homecoming. Home-schooled Lauren makes new friends. Jennifer and Margo have to confront each other for the facts about why their friendship ended. Candace, who got put on the list because of her ugly personality instead of looks, loses all of her friends to Lauren. Bridget starves herself. Danielle and her boyfriend see each other differently.

I do recommend this book. :)

Two Books

Over break, I kind of read two books ("kind of" meaning that I only read the last couple chapters of one). I finished reading Fangirl (which I blogged about halfway through because it was a two week book) and I read Eleanor and Park. Both are by Rainbow Rowell.

The ending of Fangirl was pretty much the same as when I blogged about it. Nothing new.

Eleanor and Park is a great book. It is about two 16-year-olds; Eleanor and Park. (Duh.) Eleanor is new to Park's school. She dresses weirdly and has red hair, which for some reason makes people hate her. Everyone at school makes fun of her. On the first day, she gets on the bus and has no where to sit down because no one wants to sit with her. Park volunteers, and starts the relationship with letting Eleanor borrow his comic books.
At home, Eleanor is being abused by her stepdad, Richie. He makes fun of her, hits her mom, and barely sustains the family. Eleanor has no toothbrush and four little siblings.
A while into the year, Park realizes that he is somehow drawn to Eleanor. He invites Eleanor over to his house, but his mom disapproves of their relationship.
Eleanor and Park have to figure everything out. Richie is writing horrible things on Eleanor's books, Park finds that he cannot live without Eleanor, and Eleanor's mom might send Eleanor into foster care (again).

I would definitely recommend this book.
